As of tomorrow we are starting a new monthly challenge, and this one I’m really looking forward to.
For the next month we are going to meditate for at least 30 minutes a day, sometimes more. While doing this we are writing logs every day to see if we notice any difference in our life or mental health, hopefully we do.
And at the end of the month I will upload a post explaining my experience with daily meditation.
In this post I’m just going to talk a little bit about what meditation is and what I hope to get out of daily meditation.
What is meditation?
Meditation has become more and more popular the last couple of years and is known to relief stress, make you focused, improve mental health and many other things.
A lot of people think of meditation as some kind of spiritual or religious prayer, but it doesn’t have to be.
Meditation is more about mindfulness and awareness, about being able to relax and stay focused instead of having your head filled with hundreds of thoughts at once.
When you’re meditating you are relaxing your mind and putting your body in the parasympathetic state, this state repairs the body and activates the immune system.
What I expect/hope to experience is:
Better focus and concentration
Emotional stability, more control over my emotions
A general feeling of well being
Less focused on the little things
These are just a few of the things meditation can do for you and if I experience other things I will fill you in on that at the end of the month when I post a full summary of my experience with daily meditation.
I would recommend you to try something like this as well, It doesn’t have to be meditation.
Challenging yourself to step out of your normal routine and do things you are not used to will help you grow as a person and is a great way to improve self discipline.
